Tutor or Camp Instructor: What I need to know

Before facilitating a NoticeAbility course, please be aware of the following considerations:

  • Set the right expectations with parents: NoticeAbility is a supplement to the reading remediation, not a replacement. It is designed to address the social emotional learning needs of the student you work with.
  • Set the right expectations with students: Reading remediation requires hard work from a students with dyslexia. NoticeAbility courses highlight the strengths of dyslexia. When reading remediation and NoticeAbility are offered in conjunction, a student becomes aware of both their strengths and weaknesses.
  • It's important to schedule class meetings with a frequency that allows a trusting relationship to build among the students. Ideally students will work together for a minimum of 1 hour, twice a week. A possible schedule could be Monday, Wednesday, Friday (reading remediation), Tuesday, Thursday (NoticeAbility).
  • Charging for your services: Our costs are fixed, you can price at your discretion. However, as NoticeAbility services are subsidized by generous donors, we strongly encourage you to provide scholarship opportunities to families that need it.
