Tutor or Camp Instructor: What I need to know

Before facilitating a NoticeAbility course, please be aware of the following considerations:

  • Set the right expectations with parents: NoticeAbility is a supplement to the reading remediation, not a replacement. It is designed to address the social-emotional learning needs of the student you work with.

  • Set the right expectations with students: Reading remediation requires hard work from students with dyslexia. NoticeAbility courses highlight the strengths of dyslexia. When reading remediation and NoticeAbility are offered in conjunction, a student becomes aware of both their strengths and weaknesses.

  • It's important to schedule class meetings with a frequency that allows a trusting relationship to build among the students. Ideally, students will work together for at least 1 hour, twice a week. A possible schedule could be Monday, Wednesday, Friday (reading remediation), Tuesday, Thursday (NoticeAbility).

  • Charging for your services: Access to NoticeAbility's Entrepreneurs & Innovators and Engineering & Architecture courses is entirely free.
